Rebezini Comes Home

Posted by Picasa Rebezini Comes Home

Rebezini’s first home was with her mother. Then she lived in a crate separate from her but with her brothers and sisters. She was the only puppy of roan coloring. She was liver and white. The puppies would play, eat and sleep all together. When they were four weeks old Sally came to see them.
Sally told the breeder that she wanted a girl puppy. Rebe and her sisters were taken from the crate and let outside for the first time. It was early June and the weather was perfect. The grass was freshly cut and there were clumps of spring flowers for the puppies to inspect. They were having fun just getting out onto the grass.
One puppy came up to Sally and let her pick her up. She was very curious. Another puppy came up to Sally and wanted to be petted, but was a little unsure. Two puppies stayed near the flowers and ignored Sally altogether! Finally the other puppy let Sally hold her. She was sweet. How to choose which puppy?
The breeder of the Brittanys suggested that Sally choose between the curious one and the sweet one since they showed more interest in their surroundings. Of the two puppies the curious one was more spotted than the other. The breeder told Sally that she was a roan. Her coat would change color and she would be liver colored with white instead of white with liver spots. She would be unique.
“That’s the one for me,” said Sally. Sally made arrangements to pick up the puppy when she would be ready to leave her mother. Sally then left the puppy with a toy that she had played with so that the puppy would remember her when it was time for her to go to her forever home.
The first of July Sally went to pick up her puppy. The breeder asked her, “What did you name your puppy?”. Sally said, “Rebezini, but we are going to call her Rebe for short.” “I’ve never heard that name before,” the breeder said, “I will write that one down in my book.” Sally’s niece Emily came with her to hold the puppy for the ride home.
Emily had an old shirt that Sally had slept in to fill it with her scent. Sally placed Rebe onto the shirt in Emily’s arms, Rebe sighed contentedly and went to sleep for the entire ride. Emily said, “I think Rebe is going to like riding in a car. Thanks for letting me go with you.” Sally then took Rebe to her new home.
Rebe was curious at her new surroundings. She looked at the water bowl and then she saw the food bowl and went for a taste. It was good! Rebe had some more, until the food was all gone. She saw some new toys in a box. Rebe had a bath and then she went for her first walk on a leash. Then she saw her new crate with the soft, cozy pad and that old shirt in it and crawled in for a rest. Rebezini was home!

My Sister-In-Law is on a Diet!

This is me now. I weigh 211 down from 230 and working hard to lose. My sister-in-law weighs about 115 pounds and wants to lose 10 more. Now really.... she wants my sympathy, can you believe it?

Louie is great. He loves me well heavy or light; what a good man! Besides which I spoil him rotten but he deserves it. He thinks I'm a bit crazy to spend money on weight loss, but as I have lost 20 pounds (well - almost) in a couple of months that it isn't so crazy any more.

So back to my sister-in-law. She looks fantastic, but she was hurt because I didn't notice that she has already lost 15 pounds that she didn't need to. I was surprised that she wanted my opinion since I don't fit her fashion mold to begin with. I do hope I look as good as she does when I lose another 85 pounds!

We went out for a boat ride (the last of the season) and had a great time. She is excited because my brother told her she looked so much younger now that she's lost the weight. She is already 15 years younger than he is, how young does she want to look? She's even hired a personal trainer so her workouts are really tough.

I just want to be healthier. Will I be happier? I guess that remains to be seen. Posted by Picasa

Monhegan Island

Here are some views from my vacation to Monhegan Island, Maine. It was a great trip with lots of hiking, good friends and wonderful scenery! We hiked all over the island where volunteers do all the trails and it doesn't cost you a thing, although they do request a donation. What a credit to their community! What a glorious destination!

Puppies

Here is a great picture of my puppies. They are one of the joys of my life! I like to spend a lot of time with them every day. We go for long walks and to the park and run around a lot. They run circles around me and you can see the joy on their faces. They really enjoy getting out and about. They have a great fenced yard, but getting out in the car is what they look forward to.

Aren't they just the cutest dogs in the world? I love them! Posted by Picasa

Me as a Kid

This is me when I was about 15... a LONG time ago. I am trying to remember what it was like to be that young.  Posted by Picasa

A Good Laugh!

After seeing my first post - I had to laugh!! I must be paranoid to think that anyone but my mother would be frowning on my thoughts. They aren't THAT bad.

Today was especially great! I took the dogs downtown for a walk and ran into my auntie. She hadn't seen the puppies and I hadn't seen her in a long time so it was a good visit. I bought some new yarn (oh, so expensive - but won't the mittens look and FEEL fantastic!) and said hello to my brother-in-law. I was lucky too; my husband came home for lunch. He is amazing! I am a VERY lucky woman to have him around!

I've learned how to blog and soon I'll be a computer wiz (now really - don't laugh so hard... ).
